After Planinsek’s victory, head coach George Husack broke down in tears, exclaiming, “I’m so incredibly proud and happy for Filip.” What a week it’s been, and from the moment we returned from Duke, he took charge of everything. He made his own plan, which the coaches and support personnel were to follow, and he went on.
This month, Filip improved as a competitor as a result of his training ethic, ability to perform under duress, ability to seize opportunities, ability to maintain composure under pressure, and, most importantly, his unwavering sense of self-worth. He participated in the game for the University of Alabama, his family, and himself. About him and this historic first for our program, we are incredibly proud. Filip will not stop climbing because there isn’t a mountain high enough.”
