Athens, Georgia ———USA Baseball announced on Monday that Charlie Condon, the All-America third baseman/outfielder for Georgia, has been chosen a semifinalist for the 2024 Golden Spikes Award.
Twenty-five student-athletes are vying for the title of US amateur baseball player of the year, which goes to Condon, the 2024 SEC Player of the Year. Ahead of Game 1 of the College World Series Finals on June 22 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, the 46th Golden Spikes Award will be awarded.
Marietta, Georgia native Condon, who stands 6 feet 6 inches and weighs 216 pounds, leads the NCAA in batting (.451), home runs (35), slugging percentage (1.063), and total bases (219). He also ranks second in hits (93) and third in on base percentage (.567). He has started for the ninth-ranked Bulldogs (39–14) at first base, third base, and all three outfield positions. Condon was also just named a Dick Howser Trophy semifinalist. He was selected by Perfect Game USA and D1Baseball.com as the Midseason Player of the Year.

In 2024, the Golden Spikes Award will once more be determined by public voting. From now until the semifinalists are announced on GoldenSpikesAward.com, baseball fans can cast their votes for their preferred players. On June 5, USA Baseball will reveal the award’s finalists. On June 21, GoldenSpikesAward.com will reopen for public voting, which will end on June 21.
