Andreas Stella, McLaren Team Principal, has revealed the issue that forced Cto withdraw at the United States Grand Prix.

After starting from 10th on the grid, the Australian enjoyed a scorching start and grabbed four positions on the first lap.

However, after colliding with Esteban Ocon while running side-by-side through Turn 4, he sustained damage to the right side of his car.

He managed to settle into sixth for the next 10 laps, before being forced to retire due to a consequence of the accident.

Stella explained to media, including RacingNews365: “The impact with the front left wheel with one of the Alpine’s caused damage in the water system under the bodywork on the sidepod.

“This meant that we had a gradual loss of water pressure and at some stage we saw that temperatures were going out of control, pressure kept reducing, so we needed to retire the car.”

Piastri: He was entitled to be there.
Onboard footage looked to show Ocon’s car being unsettled by the bumps as he approached the curve, causing him to oversteer into the side of Piastri’s MCL60.

Piastri believed it was a racing incident between the two, as Ocon had also been forced to retire a few circuits earlier.

“To be honest, I didn’t think much of it,” he told the media, including RacingNews365.

“I felt like I had every right to be there, and I don’t think Esteban did anything wrong.”

“Just we met in the middle and unfortunately it’s caused damage to both.”

Drama asFelipe Massa wants Lewis Hamilton’s first Drivers’ Championship title to be revoked…

Felipe Massa has vowed to remain ‘fighting to the end’ in his attempt to deprive Lewis Hamilton of the Drivers’ Championship title he won by a single point in 2008. The Brazilian driver almost missed out on the championship in the season finale, but he is now certain that the FIA tricked him out of the crown.

Earlier in the season, Massa had a victory stripped from him in the Singapore Grand Prix when Fernando Alonso won his only race of the season. Renault was later discovered to have ordered the Spaniard’s teammate, Nelson Piquet Jr, to intentionally crash in order to bring out the safety car.

The occurrence created the ‘crashgate’ scandal, which turned out to be one of the sport’s biggest problems. It reared its ugly head again in April, when former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone confessed that he was aware of the scheme before acknowledging that the Singapore result should have been annulled. Ecclestone, on the other hand, has now repudiated his comments and stated that he was unaware of any conspiracy.

Massa responded by saying that he would launch a court action to have the 2008 title reversed, and he has since stated that he is willing to go to any length to get the job done.

At the end of the race, officials disqualified Hamilton and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc due to excessive wear on their skid blocks.

According to the rules, if the plank on a Formula One car exhibits more than 1mm of wear, the driver of that car will be disqualified. Both autos were determined to have violated those restrictions during a random examination.

That meant Norris, who had been passed by Hamilton in the dying stages of the race as the 38-year-old tried to catch eventual winner Max Verstappen, was promoted up the order to achieve his sixth second-place finish of the season in his 100th career Grand Prix.

Because of Leclerc’s disqualification, Norris was able to leapfrog the Monagasque driver in the drivers’ standings, demonstrating what a fantastic job the young Brit has been doing in 2023, particularly since the British Grand Prix.

Norris congratulated Hamilton for his “gift” of second place in a post on his X account, comically modifying a photo of himself with his third-place trophy.

McLaren is grateful for rivals’ mistakes.
After a statement was made late last night stating that both Hamilton and Leclerc were being investigated, teams all over the circuit were nervously waiting to see if their results would be improved.

Williams benefited greatly from the subsequent disqualifications, with both of their drivers moving from no points to ninth and tenth place, respectively, allowing Logan Sargeant to record his maiden F1 point.

Some believed Hamilton had been robbed of a really solid weekend performance in which he was able to demonstrate that he still had what it takes to battle with the younger drivers on the grid.

Nonetheless, McLaren effectively captured the emotional rollercoaster that many of its fans, as well as fans of other teams, would have experienced yesterday night.

After the race, the FIA discovered that both drivers’ vehicles were non-compliant, with their under-floor planks falling below the minimum thickness permitted. Hamilton finished second, and Leclerc finished sixth.

While the wear on that part of the car is likely to have been caused by the bumps around the Circuit of The Americas, Hamilton posted a picture of himself and Leclerc looking stony-faced on social media, with the simple caption of ‘mood’.

Hamilton shared the photo on Instagram, and the collaborative post was also shared with Leclerc, causing it to appear on the Ferrari driver’s profile once he accepted it.

Both drivers, along with Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, would naturally be disappointed by the outcome, as their cars were two of four scrutinized after the race for that specific item.

Hamilton in particular came close to scoring victory at Austin on Sunday, finishing only two seconds behind Verstappen at the chequered flag having been catching him at pace in the closing laps.

The planks underneath F1 cars are only allowed to accrue approximately 1mm worth of wear throughout a race, with ground effect cars performing better in theory when closer to the ground.

Both Mercedes and Ferrari reasoned to the FIA that the bumps at COTA likely played a part in the excessive wear Hamilton and Leclerc experienced, along with a lack of preparation time with the US Grand Prix having been a Sprint event, limiting their practice time to one hour instead of the usual three.

“It is of course disappointing to be disqualified post-race,” Hamilton said after the race, “but that doesn’t take away from the progress we’ve made this weekend.

“We had good pace and I was feeling great in the car. It was tough racing those around me as they were so quick, but we can be happy with many things.

“I feel positive as we’re moving forward, even if reflecting on it we could have possibly won.”

JUST NOW: Check out Lewis Hamilton shocking Reaction After disqualification finishing second in the US Grand Prix…

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes was disqualified from second place in the United States Grand Prix on Sunday for driving an unauthorized car.

The stewards decided his car’s machinery did not conform with the regulations about four hours after the chequered flag fell on Hamilton’s most competitive race of the season, one he claimed he should have won if his crew had not fluffed their plan lines.

The depth of Hamilton’s new floor was deemed “outside the thresholds outlined in Article 3.5.9 e).” – which stipulates that the board cannot be worn down to less than 9mm thickness.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said: “Set-up choices on a sprint weekend are always a challenge with just one hour of free practice – and even more so at a bumpy circuit like COTA and running a new package.

“In the end, all of that doesn’t matter. Others got it right where we got it wrong and there’s no wiggle room in the rules.

“We need to take it on the chin, do the learning and come back stronger next weekend in Mexico.”

Mercedes’ sporting director Ron Meadows, trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin and reliability chief Richard Lane were summoned to fight Hamilton’s corner with the FIA’s four stewards at 6pm local time (midnight BST).

The trio emerged from the FIA offices in the paddock after 30 minutes before Hamilton’s sentence was handed down at 7.16pm local time (1.16am BST). Mercedes is not expected to challenge the FIA’s decision.

Following the post-race penalties on Sunday night, Williams’ Logan Sargeant earned his first F1 point, becoming the first American to do so since Michael Andretti for McLaren at the Italian Grand Prix 30 years ago.
